Define recovery objectives first
Before choosing backup tooling, define how much data loss is acceptable (recovery point objective) and how quickly systems must be restored (recovery time objective).
Test restores, not just backups
A backup that has never been restored in a test is an unverified assumption. Regular restore testing is what actually protects the business.
